Our client, a luxury hotel near National Mall in Washington, D.C. is seeking a dedicated and skilled Cook to join the culinary team that's dedicated to providing exceptional dining experiences for our customers. In this position, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our kitchen. You will be responsible for preparing ingredients, maintaining a clean work environment, and supporting our chefs in delivering high-quality dishes to our guests.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and portion ingredients, including washing, peeling, chopping, and slicing vegetables, fruits, and other ingredients as required.
Measure and mix ingredients according to recipes and chef instructions.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the prep area, including cleaning and sanitizing work surfaces, equipment, and utensils.
Assist in receiving and storing deliveries, ensuring proper storage and rotation of ingredients.
Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines to ensure a safe and hygienic kitchen environment.
Support the kitchen team in preparing and plating dishes during service.
Monitor inventory levels and report any shortages or discrepancies to the kitchen manager.
Assist with additional kitchen tasks as needed, including dish washing and equipment maintenance.
Qualifications:
Previous experience as a prep cook or in a similar role in a restaurant or hotel kitchen preferred.
Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and food preparation methods.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Understanding of food safety and sanitation regulations.
Physical stamina and ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy objects, and perform repetitive tasks.
Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
